Tungsten Carbide is one of the harder materials, and is not likely to scratch easily. The ring polishes very well, slips on and off my finger very easily (the edge can be described as a little rounded - it's not a hard edge). It is quite silvery, almost a gunmetal color but polished up like chrome. Hard to describe, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the ring vs. the price paid.
