Nice Ring - update, not really scratch resistant By Brian J. Buehler
First, a bit of background - I've recently lost about 50 pounds and found that my tungsten carbide wedding band would easily fall off my finger. As I'm still not at a stable weight (or size), purchasing a less expensive ring made sense. When I reach what seems to be a stable weight, I will again order a custom ring from Tungsten Pride since I really like the styles they offer along with the weight and durability of tungsten carbide.
This cobalt chrome ring from Amazon (marked Cobalt Chrome by Benchmark inside the ring) was delivered in a smallish box with padding inside and the ring in a small velvet bag with a drawstring. Inside the box was also a plastic bag marked USA and a quick Google search found their site - they are an American company and their FAQ states that they make their rings in the USA as well. In shopping for this ring, price was a major consideration with Amazon being my preferred store. While I preferred tungsten carbide, none were found in this style and width. Thus, I ordered a cobalt chrome ring. Compared to the tungsten carbide ring, this ring seems to be a brighter white and much lighter in comparison. While lighter, it is still a solid a strong feeling weight - much like a man's ring should be. I expect this ring to be less scratch resistant (given descriptions comparing ring materials) than the tungsten carbide. One important thing to keep in mind with any of the less traditional ring materials is that it may at some point have to be cut or broken to be removed from a finger if things have gone horribly wrong. The tungsten carbide ring will crack if given a good squeeze by vise-grips. The cobalt chrome ring must be cut (from two sides) to be removed and is a very hard and resistant to cutting metal - it takes quite specialized ring removal tools compared to the vise-grips needed for the tungsten carbide. That said, either of these ring materials is much less likely to crush in an accident and leave the finger squashed compared to traditional ring materials.
The center section of the ring is a raised dome (not flat) with the whole ring being highly polished. The inside diameter of the size 8.5 ring measures 18.63 mm and is halfway between 8.5 and 8.75 in ring size. As stated in the description, the ring is a comfort fit and does fit comfortably! In the end, I'm happy with this ring at the price paid and am looking forward to finding out how resistant to scratching cobalt chrome is in real life.
12-24-11 update: the ring shows several significant scuff mark areas. My best guess is that it's from the ring rubbing on door knobs as I open doors with lever handles. In a couple days, far more damage has been done than several years of abuse have done to my tungsten carbide ring.
5-20-2012 update: My new custom tungsten ring arrived! It provides a great opportunity to look at how the Amazon Cobalt ring holds up. The sad truth is that for something advertised as scratch resistant and durable, it is not scratch resistant at all. There are zero really deep scratches but many, many smaller scratches. In the end, this ring is a disappointment and I wish that some other option would have been followed since this ring was by far not the cheapest (with the discount, my replacement custom ordered and manufactured tungsten carbide ring cost twice what this cobalt ring cost and will look better 10 years from now than the cobalt ring looked after the second day - the first one is still pristine after 5 years very hard use).
If you want a ring that stays shiny and looks new but is not a shelf queen, look elsewhere.

Ring is beautiful. Sizing is perfect. Weight is similar to titanium. It does show scratches alot like titanium. The color is great. Very much like white gold but at a fraction of the cost. Overall a truly great ring at a great price.Stunning! By B. Basham
I just received this ring and it's absolutely beautiful. It is extreamly comfortable to wear. It appears to be very quality material. In comparing it to other rings like it costing literally hundreds more it is just a nice and has a good heavy feel to it. I'm very pleased with it and it's color matches well with my white gold rings.
